Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy can assist children in developing gross and fine motor skills in order to improve their function in everyday activities and play. Physical therapy interventions can assist children who display delays or difficulties with gait and mobility. Specialized therapists can provide direct treatment interventions and consultation to address problems in many areas, including the following:
- Musculoskeletal issues such as strength, muscle tone, control, flexibility, joint motion, endurance, and posture
- Orthopedic issues such as torticollis, hip dysplasia, scoliosis, and amputation
- Neuromuscular conditions such as Cerebral Palsy
- Gross motor developmental assessments
- Coordination and balance training
- Mobility – transfers, floor mobility, and ambulation
- Motor planning
- Adaptive equipment assessment and training (walkers, standers, wheel chairs, gait trainers, etc.)
