Bree obtained her BS in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 1998, and received her Master of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Medical School in 2000. She worked as a staff physical therapist for University of Colorado Hospital providing inpatient acute care services to a diverse patient population with a variety of diagnoses including orthopedics, neurology, burns, and critical care. Brianna was a guest lecturer and lab assistant for the physical therapy programs at Regis University and the University of Colorado in Denver. She also provided in-services and training to hospital staff on proper techniques for lifting and transferring patients.
As part of the Neonatal Developmental Therapy team, Bree specialized her training in pediatrics while working in the hospital’s level III neonatal intensive care unit. In addition to direct evaluation and treatment of high-risk infants, she provided education and in-service training to resident physicians and new staff on the importance of developmentally supportive care and the role of therapy in the nursery.
Upon moving back to West Michigan, Bree was hired as a member of the Inpatient Stroke Team at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. She provided services to patients with diagnoses including stroke, joint replacement, and amputation. Led by her passion for working with infants and children, Bree accepted a position with Holland Hospital’s pediatric program, providing outpatient therapy in the clinic and inpatient services to neonates in the Special Care Nursery. Currently, Bree provides physical therapy services for children in the Saugatuck Public School District.
Bree has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1998 and is also a certified Clinical Instructor. She has attended numerous pediatric focused continuing education courses to further enhance her expertise and to stay current with the latest research and therapy techniques for children.
